Le Duc de Praslin
Home Destinations Le Duc de Praslin
Le Duc de Praslin is a five-star Seychellois retreat set within lush tropical gardens only a few steps from Côte d’Or Beach on the north-eastern coast of Praslin. The property combines contemporary comfort with a strong local character, offering spacious rooms and suites alongside substantial private villas for families and groups.
The atmosphere balances relaxation with a broad choice of facilities, including three swimming pools, refined and casual dining, a rooftop spa and fitness centre, and easy access to beach and marine activities. Its varied accommodation also allows the hotel to cater comfortably to couples, honeymooners and multi-generational families.
The hotel lies beside Côte d’Or, also known as Anse Volbert, one of Praslin's best-known beaches. Tropical planting, palms, water features and fishponds create a lush garden setting, while the newer Ocean Rooms and beachfront dining areas bring guests closer to the turquoise waters of the bay.
Design varies subtly across the property, from the more locally inspired Superior Rooms to contemporary Ocean Rooms decorated in shades reflecting the surrounding sea. Villas introduce a distinctly residential feel, with expansive terraces, private pools and elevated views across Côte d’Or, the valley and surrounding islands.
The main hotel accommodation comprises 20 Ocean Rooms, 20 Superior Rooms, four Honeymoon Suites and four Family Suites. Ocean Rooms measure approximately 55 square metres and are reserved for guests aged 16 and over, while Superior Rooms offer around 65 square metres within the gardens. Honeymoon Suites add private courtyards and outdoor showers, while one- and two-bedroom Family Suites provide more generous layouts for guests travelling with children.
Three private villas extend the choice considerably. Villa 180 offers three bedrooms and a private pool; Villa 270 provides four en-suite bedrooms, extensive terraces and a pool with a separate children's section; and the 700-square-metre Villa 360 combines four bedrooms with an infinity pool, therapy pool, rooftop Jacuzzi, private gym and butler-style services. All retain access to the wider hotel facilities.
Le Dauphin Restaurant is the hotel's main dining venue, set among gardens, water features and fishponds. It serves buffet breakfast and dinner, combining Seychellois Creole dishes with international favourites and themed selections throughout the week.
Café des Arts occupies an exceptional position directly beside Côte d’Or Beach and specialises in seafood and refined contemporary cuisine. Blue Octopus and Mojito bars provide cocktails and a livelier beachfront atmosphere, while Charcoal Bar beside the main pool offers a relaxed setting for coffee, drinks and aperitifs.
The hotel has three swimming pools surrounded by tropical gardens and sun terraces, providing several distinct areas for relaxation. A 24-hour rooftop fitness centre overlooks the beachfront and includes treadmills, exercise bikes, cross trainers, resistance equipment and free weights.
Reception can arrange bicycle and car hire, fishing and boat excursions to surrounding islands such as Curieuse, Cousin, Aride and St Pierre. Praslin's celebrated Vallée de Mai UNESCO World Heritage Site and Anse Lazio are also within easy travelling distance, allowing the hotel to serve as a convenient base for wider island exploration.
Côte d’Or Beach lies only steps from the hotel and extends for approximately two kilometres along calm, shallow turquoise water. Complimentary sun loungers are available for hotel guests, while the sheltered conditions make the beach particularly suitable for swimming, families and relaxed time beside the Indian Ocean.
Kayaks and paddleboards can be hired from the beachfront for exploring the bay, while snorkelling, fishing and boat excursions can be arranged locally. Two PADI-certified dive centres are also within walking distance, providing access to Praslin's coral reefs and established dive sites for both beginners and experienced divers.
Elodia Spa occupies a dedicated rooftop pavilion and includes four treatment rooms: two indoor double rooms and two outdoor single rooms. A relaxation area and wet zone with Jacuzzi complement the treatment facilities, creating a distinct wellness environment above the resort.
Treatments incorporate products from Comfort Zone alongside Belliche, a Seychellois brand using locally inspired natural ingredients. Combined with the neighbouring fitness centre and the hotel's tropical surroundings, the spa provides a meaningful wellness component rather than simply a limited massage service.
Le Duc de Praslin is located at Anse Volbert on Côte d’Or, Praslin, only a few steps from the beach. Restaurants, small shops, taxi boats and other visitor services are available within walking distance, giving the area a convenient yet relaxed island atmosphere.
Baie Sainte Anne ferry terminal is approximately five minutes away by road and Praslin Island Airport around 25 minutes away. Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve is roughly ten minutes from the hotel, while Anse Lazio and other renowned beaches can be reached easily by car, bicycle or organised excursion.
