V'Spirit Cruises offers an overnight boutique cruising experience through Ha Long and Lan Ha bays, using Tuan Chau International Harbor as its embarkation and disembarkation point. Rather than functioning as a stationary hotel, accommodation, dining and activities form part of an evolving journey through limestone islands, sheltered waters and quieter areas of the bay.
The name V'Spirit refers to “Vietnamese Spirit”, reflecting the operator's aim of combining contemporary comfort with Vietnamese hospitality and cultural experiences. Current itineraries are offered as two-day, one-night or three-day, two-night cruises, making the vessel suitable both for travellers incorporating Ha Long into a wider Vietnam itinerary and those wanting more time to explore Lan Ha Bay.
The defining setting changes throughout the voyage as the vessel sails from Ha Long Bay into Lan Ha Bay, passing forested limestone karsts, sheltered coves and expanses of calm water. Private balconies, large windows and the open upper deck are designed to keep these landscapes visible throughout much of the stay.
Cabins have a boutique character dominated by natural hardwood floors and furniture, combining elements associated with traditional Vietnamese cruising with modern comforts. The ship's restaurant, bar and sundeck provide the principal communal spaces, with the open deck becoming especially atmospheric around sunrise and sunset.
Junior Suites and Senior Suites offer approximately 26 square metres of space with double or twin beds, natural hardwood furnishings and a private balcony with outdoor seating. Each includes individually controlled air conditioning, minibar, kettle, safe and an en-suite bathroom with both a standing shower and bathtub. Junior Triple Suites increase the space to approximately 29 square metres and can accommodate three guests.
The 48-square-metre Executive Suite occupies a particularly desirable position on the upper deck and adds a king-size bed facing the bay, sofa, reclining chair and a private furnished terrace with sun loungers. Its enlarged bathroom includes a separate shower and Jacuzzi bathtub, providing the most spacious and indulgent accommodation within the current collection. Connecting Junior Suite configurations are also available for families or groups travelling together.
The Dawn Restaurant hosts the principal meals during the cruise, beginning with lunch as the vessel sails from Ha Long towards Lan Ha Bay. Dinner is presented in a more refined setting, while light breakfast and brunch are timed around the following morning's activities and return journey to Tuan Chau.
Vietnamese flavours play an important role in the onboard cuisine, complemented by the international expectations of an overnight cruise. The experience extends beyond formal meals through sunset refreshments and cooking demonstrations, where guests can learn more about Vietnamese ingredients and preparation techniques.
Life aboard V'Spirit centres on the restaurant, bar and open sundeck, where guests can relax with panoramic views or join early-morning Tai Chi as the bay comes to life. Evening activities can include board games and squid fishing, while the sunset programme provides a relaxed transition between afternoon exploration and dinner.
The cruise experience is intentionally activity-led rather than built around conventional resort facilities. Kayaks, bamboo boats, swimming opportunities and guided excursions allow guests to spend significant time away from the vessel, while massage treatments may be available at additional cost rather than forming part of the standard cruise inclusions.
On the two-day itinerary, guests travel by traditional bamboo boat to Bright Cave before joining an onboard cooking demonstration and sunset programme. The following morning focuses on Tra Bau, where kayaking provides a closer perspective on the limestone formations and, conditions permitting, guests can swim in the bay before returning towards Tuan Chau.
The three-day itinerary adds a fuller day of exploration around Cat Ba and Lan Ha Bay. Guests travel to Viet Hai Village, with the option of continuing by bicycle or electric vehicle, before kayaking around the fish-farming area and visiting Ba Trai Dao for swimming and beach time when weather and sea conditions allow.
V'Spirit Cruises uses Tuan Chau International Harbor in Ha Long as its principal departure point. Guests check in at the V'Spirit lounge before transferring by tender to the main vessel, which then cruises from Ha Long Bay towards Lan Ha Bay rather than remaining moored at Tuan Chau.
Tuan Chau is readily incorporated into itineraries beginning or ending in Hanoi, and V'Spirit publishes transfer arrangements for travellers coming from the capital. Because this is an operating cruise rather than a fixed hotel, the precise route and individual water-based activities may be adjusted according to weather, tides and operational conditions.
